The MOEBHIOS team is involved in the teaching activities of the course 0705571 “Documentation of Historic Buildings” at Al-Quds University in Jerusalem. The course is coordinated by Prof. Yara Saifi and Dr. Raffaella De Marco, within the international collaboration activities of the European project.
The course involves students in the fourth year of Architectural Engineering. It focuses on the methods of metric drawing and descriptive survey of Palestinian historical and traditional buildings by means of various techniques and instruments. It will include a series of lectures and practical exercises.
From March to May 2023, students will be involved in lectures on advanced architectural documentation methods, from archival and bibliographic research to on-site surveying with instrumental applications for digital photogrammetry. The analysis sites will include major cities of Palestine: Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Al-Khalil, Jericho, Ramallah, and Nablus. In these contexts, the focus is on examples of Architectural Modernity developed between 1948 and the 1970s.
Methods of integrated documentation are addressed to the production of findings of architectural analysis. Cameras for terrestrial photogrammetry, 360° cameras for virtual tours and light UAVs for aerial photography will be experienced by the students under the guidance of the teaching staff. In addition, visits and interviews will be conducted both at major local archives (municipalities, archives, public collections, heritage organisations) and through the collection of story-telling and memoirs from local people.
